About Us

As a nonprofit, mission-based organization founded as American Youth Hostels in 1934, Hostelling International USA is dedicated to promoting intercultural understanding, environmental stewardship and world peace through travel.  As the regional affiliate of Hostelling International USA, the Eastern New England Council (HI-ENEC) manages 6 hostels in Boston, Cape Cod and the Islands and is part of a network of 80 hostels in the United States and 4,000 hostels spanning 60 countries.

HI-Boston and HI-ENEC promote intercultural awareness through educational and cultural programming, community service and volunteerism.

As an invaluable part of the local tourism industry, HI-Boston brings 32,000 people to the city every year.

Mission: To help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling.
