Community
Teams of college students from around the world come to Boston to perform community service during their Spring Break vacations.
Since the 1930s, HI-USA has provided Girl Scouts with opportunities for travel through educational, cultural and recreational programs that build life skills and promote global understanding. HI-ENEC continues this strong tradition through specialized programs and activities at the Boston, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket hostels.
An after-school program using cooking to foster intercultural awareness and exchange amongst youth, Cultural Kitchen serves students from Boston-area middle and high schools.
Scholarships sponsor summer travel for Boston-area youth ages 10-18 to HI-ENEC hostels in Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Midcape. Groups take advantage of the rich history, environment and cultural activities and, by staying at the hostel, have the opportunity to meet other travelers from around the world.
WORLD TRAVEL 101 education seminars students prepare college students for domestic and/or international travel, and focus on what it means to "journey with an open mind and gentle heart." HI-ENEC works with college campuses to tailor educational, travel, and cultural exchange resources and programs to the unique needs of each school.
A valuable resource for novice and veteran travelers, individuals, groups and families alike, HI-ENEC’s Resource Library offers workshops – from Travel Abroad 101 to Responsible Tourism – where travelers can learn the ins-and-outs and current trends of travel.
