Mission: To help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling.

Hostelling International New England (HI-New England) is the regional affiliate of Hostelling International USA, a network of 80 hostels throughout the United States.  HI-New England manages 6 hostels in Boston, Cape Cod and the Islands.

Since its opening in 1983, the Boston Hostel (HI-Boston) has hosted over half a million travelers from 85 countries.  The award-winning hostel enjoys consistently high ratings both within the international hostel network and among guests, who appreciate safe and affordable travel.  As an entry point to one of the most exciting cities in the country, HI-Boston provides an opportunity to meet travelers from all over the world.  The attraction is not only the low price of a bed – it is the international fellowship and intercultural exchange travelers can enjoy at the hostel.

A new "green-designed" and energy-efficient HI-Boston opens on June 7! With a new Group Kitchen and Dining Room, Community Room, and additional capacity for guests (480 beds), the hostel will welcome more than 46,000 visitors to this world-class city. Find out more.

HI-Boston is one of 80 quality hostels in the nationwide network of Hostelling International USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1934 to promote intercultural understanding of the world and its people through hostelling.
