Executive Director

Deborah Ruhe has more than 25 years of business and non-profit experience. Before becoming Executive Director of ENEC in 2002, she was the Director of Clinical Operations at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Executive Director of the Fenway Community Health Center in Boston and of Health Options in New Hampshire. Deborah was the board chair of Victory Programs, Inc. and has served on the board of several non-profit organizations and community service initiatives, including Our Bodies, Ourselves, the Ryan White Care Act and the New Hampshire Family Planning Council. Deborah has an MS in Management from Antioch/New England Graduate School and attended the University of Maine and the University of New Hampshire.

Board of Directors

Dawn Anderson is the Director of the Office of International Study Programs at Northeastern University. Throughout her more than 15 years working as a higher education administrator, her focus has been to increase the college enrollment and participation numbers of under-represented students in experiential education programs. She served for 3 years as chair of the National Association of International Educators (NAFSA) Committee on Under-Representation in Education Abroad. She is a faculty member of the Martha's Vineyard Summer Institute on Experiential Education. She joined the Board in 2008.

Kristen Arent works in Global Neurology Marketing at Biogen Idec, a global biotech company that creates new standards of care in therapeutic areas with high unmet medical needs. Kristen has been advising senior and executive-level management in the biopharmaceutical community for over ten years. She has extensive expertise in market research and new product acquisitions. Kristen joined the board in 2006.

Ellie Botshon has a background in housing and economic development in both the US and Latin America. She currently works in the residential real estate market assisting buyers and sellers, and as a relocation consultant in the Greater Boston area. She holds an MBA from the UK and an MA in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University. Ellie joined the Board in 2007.

David Breen has held various senior leadership positions in higher education, government and non-profit organizations for over 25 years. He is presently self employed and provides project management services to a variety of governmental and not-for-profit clients. He joined the Board in 2008.

Art Canter is the founder and former President/CEO of the Massachusetts Lodging Association. He has over twenty five years of management and leadership experience with a strong focus on strategic planning, marketing, sales, financial and resource management, education, program development, public relations, fund development and government relations. He has a B.A. from Northeastern University and a Masters of Public Administration from University of New Haven. He joined the Board in 2008.

Stephan Chait (Vice President) is Director of Capital Projects for the University of Massachusetts Building Authority. He is responsible for capital projects and space management, as well as the oversight of operational departments at UMASS. He has been on the ENEC Board since 2001 and chairs the Governance Committee. He lives in Lynn, MA.

Kimberly Hirsh (President) has extensive human resources management experience in various industries. She is currently with Management Sciences for Health, an international development organization headquartered in Cambridge, MA. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from George Washington University and an M.S. in Business from Johns Hopkins University. Travel for work and leisure has brought her to Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. Kimberly joined the Board in 2004 and has served as its Vice President from November 2005-November 2006, and President since November 2006.

Linda A. Moulton owns and operates a strategic financial consulting business, Goddard Advisory, which specializes in working with companies in the consumer products and hospitality industries. She has over 20 years of experience in banking and corporate finance in Boston and New York. She has a B.S. from Brown University and a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University. She joined the Board in 2008.

David Noble is currently Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing for Royal Hospitality Services, Inc., a commercial laundry facility servicing 70 hotels throughout New England. Prior to this position, he served as Director of Operations and External Affairs for the Massachusetts Lodging Association from 2004 through 2006. He received his B.A. from Colgate University in 1999 and his MBA from Boston University's Graduate School of Management in 2004. Prior to joining the MLA, he worked for the Democratic National Convention as a special assistant to the Chairwoman and was the Director of Operations for Earth Tones, a telecommunications service provider in Denver.

Melissa Nott Davis is an attorney in the Trial Department at McDermott Will & Emery LLP. She has practiced law at McDermott for the last six years and has represented non-profits before state and federal courts. Melissa is also a member of The Baylor School’s Alumni Board of Directors and Northwestern University’s Regional Council. She received undergraduate degrees in history and secondary education from Northwestern University and her juris doctorate from Boston University. Melissa joined the HI-ENEC Board in 2008.

Monica Roberts is a Director of Federal and State Programs for Boston Public Schools. She is responsible for seeking and securing public grants for the district, as well as working with national educational organizations to shape federal education legislation. Monica holds a B.A. from Brandeis University and two graduate degrees from Boston College, an M.A. in Political Science and an M.B.A. Monica joined the Board in 2008.

Bob Schiller is a real estate asset manager with General Services Administration and is responsible for the strategic and financial analysis of a portfolio of government owned buildings in New England. He has over 30 years of diverse financial experience which includes work as an economist, controller, and consultant. He has an M.S. from Syracuse University and is a CPA and CFA. He joined the board in 2008.

Ann Parker is an Attorney in the Real Estate Department at Ropes & Gray LLP. She has been at Ropes & Gray LLP since 1995. Previously she served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Raya Dreben at the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Ann holds a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University. Ann lives in Boston and joined the Board in December 2004.

Julie Wingerter is a marketing strategy consultant with Phase Forward. Formerly, she was Vice President of Strategy, Marketing & Business Development at NetCracker Technology Corporation. Julie has an MBA from The Wharton School and an undergraduate degree from Princeton University. Julie has an extensive background in high tech, including enterprise software and telecommunications, biotech, and Fortune 500 management consulting. She joined the Board in 2007 and lives in Jamaica Plain.

Gloria Yee is the Global Product Manager for Hemashield Aortic Grafts at Boston Scientific Corporation. Previously, she worked as part of the Health Economics and Government Affairs team in the International Division of Boston Scientific. She holds an MBA, BSc and BEd, and has worked as a Senior Business Consultant at SEQUITUR Inc., and Program Manager for Collaborative Research Trials at GlaxoSmithKline. She has used her business training and experience to help at the ACT II Child and Family Services Society and the London Distress Centre on their Boards previously. Gloria enjoys coaching local dragon boating teams in the Boston area. She joined the Board in 2005 and serves on the Development Committee.

John Yonce is President of Porter Sargent Publishers, Inc., an educational publisher on Beacon Hill. He worked in the international youth and budget travel industry for 15 years, as a director of Roadrunner Hostelling Treks and AmeriCan Adventures in England and Los Angeles. John is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with degrees in Journalism/Legal Studies, and Social Thought and Political Economics. John joined the HI-ENEC Board in 2001, and lives in Scituate, MA with his wife and four children.
